Hi Everybody!

This is a new thread where we will constantly update with the latest fixes and information regarding installation problems and weirdness. Since we were forced by Microsoft to switch over to Microsoft Installer as a part of their Windows Vista certification requirements, we've encountered more than a fair share of odd behavior.

Let's get started shall we!

1. I get an "Access Denied" error when I try to run the PimpFish installer
This problem is caused by Windows not having the correct file association to Microsoft Installer. This can happen in a number of ways, but the fix is fortunately rather simple. First try to download this file:

http://www.pimpfish.com/download/msi_assoc.zip

Unzip it somewhere (like your desktop) and run the msi1.reg file within - This will fix the file associations - and you should now be able to doubleclick our installer file and everything should run fine.

2. I still can't open the installer file
If you still get errors where it seems like Windows doesn't know what to do with the file - then we recommend that you install the latest Microsoft Installer redistributable, which can be found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?fa milyid=889482FC-5F56-4A38-B838-DE776FD4138C&displa ylang=en

Download and install this update and then try to run our installer again.

3. I can't see the PimpFish Toolbar in my Browser!
If you are running Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista, please see this post:

PimpFish Toolbar doesn't show in Internet Explorer 7 on Vista

If you are running any other OS/IE version, please see this post for general troubleshooting steps:

Hi Todd,

Yes you can in fact use PimpFish with Firefox - However the functionality is very limited in comparison with the IE version - For example spidering and SLAPfiles Video Downloader plugins are not supported (nor do you have the Floatbar in the Firefox version)

We are working on getting the Firefox version up to par with the IE version.
You can get the current Firefox version here:

http://www.pimpfish.com/pffirefox.html

(The page is a bit under construction at the moment, but it should work for you)

Thanks

Was excited to try the new version 2010. I found out that it automatically download and save to default directory after click grab movies. Changed the setting and exit IE7. Got back in. It still automatically download on Grab and saves to default directory. New version doesn't seem to save the settings.

Sad to say I had to switch back to 2007 version. I will be excited again when this bug(?) is fixed. Thanks for a great program.
