Skinfinder. I suppose it could have a use in telling pictures of people from ad banners, but banners can have people in them too. I suppose the original intent was to tell nudie pics from others, but there's no way to make a useful set of rules to tell if the pic is "nude enough" for your taste. Does anyone use this?
SLAPfiles. I can think of a single use for this: You have a butt-ton or more pictures on your website, and you want to be able to allow guests to download them quickly. A series of SLAPfiles would allow your guests to grab a pre-defined collection of pics without having to browse through thumbnails. You might have a bunch of vacation pictures, and have them sorted by year/location, then have a SLAPfile for each of these groups, and one final one to grab ALL the pics. Then you might have pics of properties you sell/rent, with a SLAPfiles for each such property (house, apartment, car, transformer toys, whatever). The only downside is that the other person MUST have Pimpfish to make use of these SLAPfile collections. If there were some way to make SLAPfile use independent from Pimpfish, there might be a small market for this. MAKING the SLAPfiles would still be most efficiently done with Pimpfish.
Someone else suggested (perhaps I saw it on an FAQ?) that you could use them as an ad-hoc solution to spidering for content until such time that a real spidering system could be made. The process was a lot more involved than I liked, so I never tried it.
Does anyone use SLAPfiles?
M3U playlists and Contact sheets. I don't use playlists, I click on the file and watch it, or drop a bunch into Winamp. I've never needed a contact sheet either, but I'm not a gallery builder. Now I'm not saying there's no need for these features, just that I don't use them. Does anyone else?
Seems like that's about all.

Hi bystander,
Yeah I agree with SkinFinder. The thing about that old thing is that we have it in there, so we always figured "why remove it if it works, kind of" - We/I never use it personally - But it seemed like a neat idea at the time
We might remove it in a future upgrade as it gives us the "porn" connotation which we aren't really trying to advertise. We are mostly aiming at online video and sharing sites these days. So this feature will probably be deprecated.
The thing about SLAPfiles is that they have a limited use right now. I can see that people will probably very rarely use the "sharing" functionality of SLAPfiles - But the underlying technology is actually very important in PimpFish and we are using that same technology to build our cool new plugin and spidering architecture which is in the new version.
Furthermore the SLAPfile "grab history" which PimpFish maintains has a certain merit I'd say.
When it comes to playlists and galleries: Well, to me (one of the co-authos of this darn thing) I'd say galleries for pictures is relatively useless in the real world. I never use them, and I think they have a limited use. But why not I say? ;)
However, the playlist files for videos are indispensable for me in my surfing. The cool thing about those things is that you grab a page with video clips - which might be different clips from a larger movie - and then you can with a simple rightclick->View Gallery in the downloader open all the clips at once in your player. No fusking around opening explorer and finding the files / opening in your player manually.
In any case - Your comments are excellent dude - and we value them alot - If only more people took the time .... (The unfortunate reality is that you rarely hear from people who love it - but rather the people who have problems and need help - Gives us a bit of a skewed picture in our day to day workings naturally
)
Ciao!

Well, I didn't want to say I thought these things were useless, or demand they be removed or anything like that, but as you indicated, how are you going to know anything if people don't tell you?
I was also hoping that someone would come in and say "hey, I use these things all the time, they're great for doing such-and-such, etc" and then maybe I'd have a use for them.
And then there's the stuff that works under the hood that I don't even know about. It appears from what you've said that I'm using SLAPfiles all the time, but never knew it. Or something like that.
One last thing, you mentioned how you were trying to shift your focus toward sharing sites - you might want to try and alter your documentation to reflect that where you can. Some kind of "What's this program good for?" page where your virtues are extolled. And maybe change the name back to the less-exciting but less-pimpy 1CPG. I NEVER would have even looked at a program called Pimpfish back when I was looking for a way to more easily automate gallery-grabbing, because it doesn't tell me what it does. (I guess I'm one of those unhip fuddy-duddies that way.)

Thanks for the feedback
Well, it's always been tricky for us to market this darn thing - And the move towards the new name was partially made to shake things up, and partially simply to see what happened. And so far, we have had a lot more response than we ever did with 1CPG - Some people might then say that this is simply because the product is that much better now than it was once.
In any case, it's way too late for us to change the name at this point. Who knows, we might consider it in the future if we see a clear benefit from it.
And yes, you're right - Our documentation and website material sucks right now. But that's simply because we have a lot of stuff coming up - and haven't had the resources to hammer it out as fast as we had liked to. One thing I can reveal now though is that we are getting rid of a lot of our text and having a lot more video ;)

I can definitely understand about the site. Unfortunately for you, your site helps you make money and you can't afford to let it languish much, so I hope you can get the kinks ironed out.
