We often get all sorts of e-mails from PimpFish users with questions regarding PimpFish.
Here we have tried to compile the most frequently asked questions so that you can easily find the information you need.

If you are having problems which aren't covered in this FAQ then then it might be a good idea to do a site-wide search for a solution. Type in a few keywords in the searchbox at the top of this page and see if something comes up. Often a solution might be found among user comments or in our forums.

If all else fails, then you are of course more than welcome to post questions in our Forums. You can also use the built-in error reporting functionality of PimpFish or go

•  What is PimpFish and what does it do?

  In short: PimpFish helps you download large amounts of pictures/movies/whatever from any website you surf to.
  Furthermore PimpFish enables you to send ANYTHING you bump into online (movies and images) to your friends in a single click. On top of that PimpFish has cool automated plugin and spidering functionality which enables you to snag movies from popular video websites such as Youtube - sweet!
  



•  What is this SLAPfiles stuff?

•  What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

  The average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 mph.

Toolbar Answers:

•  SkinFinder isn't working or acting weird!

  This problem can be caused by a number of things:
  
  1. If you click "Grab!" before a page has fully loaded, then PimpFish will not analyse the images on the page. Please let the page load completely before grabbing, or hit the "Stop" button in your browser first.
  2. You have set your percentage too high or reversed the SkinFinder logic. In our experience setting a percentage below 20% is best if you want to be sure to grab all pictures with skin. However, as there are so many billions of different images with different lighting and skin types, then SkinFinder will often let perfectly good images fail the test if your percentage is too high.

  3. SkinFinder only works with some GIF images. Animated and protected GIF images are not supported
  



•  I'm using the user/password feature, but it isn't working!

  The first thing to check is whether you are logged in to the site in question through Internet Explorer. If the site uses cookies or session management to control access to their content, then you also need to be logged in through your browser as well as using the user/password feature of PimpFish.
  Another thing to doublecheck is whether your username and password is entered correctly in the password management tab in the PimpFish options.
  If stuff still isn't working contact us and we will help you out.
  



•  I wanted to grab some Flash or an embedded movie from a website, but PimpFish didn't get it!

  PimpFish does support downloading of Shockwave Flash files and movies from websites, however the grabber is limited in this respect as it can only grab embedded videos which:
  
  1. Link directly to a video file in the embed src tag
  
  2. Link to a video URL which is supported by our video downloader plugins - To see which sites are currently supported by our plugins, take a look at our SLAPFiles Portal
  



•  In Internet Explorer I see an error in the statusbar (Frame error) and PimpFish hasn't grabbed all the files on the page, what's going on?

Downloader Answers:

•  The downloader won't download a file, what's up?

  The reasons can be many but most often it is a simple timeout error or a 404 not found error which PimpFish encounters. Often these errors are on the server you are trying to download from. When you see a download error you should doubleclick the item in the PimpFish downloader to see the error details. Through this interface you should be able to get an explanation of what is going on. From here you can also report errors directly to us which makes it easy for us to investigate and see whether we, or the website, is at fault.
