PimpFish Downloading Options

Note: This page describes features added to PimpFish version 2006.4. For previous versions of PimpFish, see the help on the General options page.

The Downloading options page contains options that control how PimpFish downloads and organizes your downloaded files.

The Automatically start downloading after grabbing checkbox controls the background downloader. If this option is checked, the downloader immediately begins downloading files when you use a Grab menu command. This is recommended only if you have a fast Internet connection (cable, DSL, or faster). Uncheck the option if you have a slower connection, such as a dialup modem. If this option is unchecked, the downloader does not begin until you click the Start button in the downloader window.

The next two checkboxes control whether PimpFish creates galleries of grabbed pictures and movies. Check Create M3U playlists for grabbed movies to create a playlist for each page of movies you grab. Check Create contact sheets of grabbed pictures to create a web page of every page of pictures you grab; this web page is a contact sheet that shows thumbnails of all the grabbed pictures. Playlists and contact sheets are stored one directory level up from the grabbed files themselves, and can be viewed using the Gallery Shortcuts menu in the toolbar and downloader.

If you want to change the directory where files are downloaded, enter a new path in the Download folder box. By default this is a folder called PimpFish Grabbed Files in your My Documents folder. Click the browse button next to the text box to browse for a new folder.

The Sort Downloaded Files checkbox controls how PimpFish stores the files you download. If this box is checked, files are organized in your download folder according to the site and page name that they were downloaded from. You can uncheck the box to have all files put directly in the download folder
