PimpFish and your Privacy
Zabersoft is committed to protecting your privacy and your private information. While no information is send to Zabersoft without your consent, some PimpFish features may have other privacy implications. This page outlines those features, and how you can disable them if you don't want to use them.
PimpFish has a debug logging feature, which can help the Zabersoft support staff in diagnosing problems. The log contains information which you may not want to disclose, including the URLs of web sites that you browse to in Internet Explorer, and URLs of files that you download. User names and passwords to password-protected sites are not logged. PimpFish logs the fact that a user name or password is being used, but the name/password itself is not logged, and there is no way for Zabersoft staff to tell what they are. The log file is kept encrypted so that only Zabersoft staff can read it.
If you don't want to disclose this information, then simply don't submit a log file with your support requests. (It would be helpful for us if you note in your support request that you don't want to submit a log, that way we won't ask you for a log later.) If you do submit a log file, only Zabersoft staff have access to the logs, and the logs are never released outside of Zabersoft. Any information in the logs is used solely for troubleshooting purposes, and will be treated as confidential.
Logging can enabled and disabled on the Troubleshooting options page.
PimpFish has a grab history feature, which creates a SLAPfile every time you grab pictures or movies. These files are created in your own My Documents directory; if other users on the computer (for example, administrators) have access to view your My Documents directory, they will be able to read those SLAPfiles and see your grab history.
You can disable this history feature by unchecking Maintain a history of grabs on the General options page.
Every 10 days, PimpFish will run ZaberUpdate silently in the background, to check for updates to PimpFish. This is done without sending any information to Zabersoft. You can disable these automatic checks on the Troubleshooting options page.
